Once upon a time... there was an idea!

As announced in our previous blog post, we are excited to reveal our project idea.

We get there in a moment, but first we want you to picture this storyline:

Imagine you are traveling alone in Thailand and you are looking for a real local experience. For the first evening you plan street food. For the following day you pick an authentic restaurant where locals go and on the third night you join other travelers or maybe your Tinder date 😉. You come closer to it but you are still missing that ultimate experience. In all these scenarios you may have had a fun night and an authentic meal. But you keep staying in that “tourist zone” and you'll never get the vibe of sitting at a local's dining table enjoying their signature dish. Sooner or later, you may think: “What would it be like to spend an evening with locals at their homes?”

When we were discussing this storyline during the Friday-Aperitivo, we both agreed that food connects people and builds cultural bridges. It’s simply amazing, how quickly you bond while eating together. But is this how reality looks like on your travels? Not really from our experience. You probably know the situation being in an authentic local restaurant getting all those curious looks – and you feel like an English man in New York 🎵.

Mhhhh, we thought: “But what’s travelling without socializing?” Shouldn’t it be about discovering new worlds and unknown cultures by connecting with the locals !?” Having discussed that we assumed: Some travelers miss the possibility to socialize with the locals.

As our conversation progressed, our focus shifted away from travelers. Eating doesn’t only connect foreigners but people in general. Many enjoy discovering new dishes or new interpretations. They like having people over for their “Sandrine’s Sunday Brunch” or “Adrian’s Special Cheese Fondue”. So, we came to our next two assumptions: People prefer eating in company over eating alone. And they enjoy hosting and showing their cooking skills.

Well... Our idea in a nutshell is to bring people together who want to socialize, eat and enjoy showing their culinary creations.

With this idea in mind and our commitment to realize it, we literally have to build a web site, don’t we? After all, we can simply take a web template and go from there. But hold your breath...

Do templates scale? How do they integrate with mobile apps and how easily are they customized? Or shall we rather build the website from scratch? Should we even bother with a website or should we focus on a mobile app? *MindExplosion*  🤯

But first coffee... and then we will reveal our project name. So excited...! Stay tuned!
